“He don’t want to box, he wants to make it a brawl bro”: Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez shared heated sparring session as teenagers, with Floyd Mayweather’s protégé aged just 18 and Teofimo only 15 | BATTLE VIRAL

A young Teofimo Lopez sparring Gervonta Davis when Davis was 19. Proof that there has always been bad blood between these two.

The US lightweight stars currently stand as two of the sport’s top young fighters, even despite Teofimo’s recent defeat to George Kambosos Jr.

Lopez shocked the world by dethroning pound-for-pound sensation Vasyl Lomachenko in 2020.

However, it has since all come crashing down for the 24-year-old, with the unheralded Aussie taking all of his belts in his first defence.

Meanwhile Gervonta holds the lesser WBA ‘regular’ belt in the division and is now keen for a shot at Kambosos Jr to become the true champion.

A fight with Teofimo may still await him down the line too, but he must first come through his contest with Isaac Cruz this Sunday.

Father and trainer Teofimo Lopez Sr previously posted footage of his son sparring with Gervonta when they were teenage amateur boxers.

Teofimo was just 15 at the time, and ‘Tank’ was 18.

The sparring session was particularly intense, despite the pair both wearing headgear.

There were plenty of shouts from the sidelines, with Teofimo Sr rarely keeping his silence.

Almost ten years down the line, there is now an active rivalry between the pair.

Following the Kambosos Jr defeat, Gervonta said: “I think he just thought the guy was a slouch.

“He went in there with his hands down. There’s so many things he did wrong in that fight.

“He was too big-headed for one. His father was too big-headed.”
