Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson have engaged in a heated exchange over predictions for a potential Manny Pacquiao rematch. Tyson previously advised Mayweather to change his fighting style against Pacquiao. Tyson predicted Pacquiao as the winner, emphasizing his perpetual motion and high punch output.

Mayweather responded by claiming greatness, stating he’s greater than Muhammad Ali, which sparked disagreement from Tyson. Tyson criticized Mayweather’s delusional claim, highlighting that greatness is determined by public acceptance and questioned Mayweather’s ability to handle simple tasks like taking his kids to school.

Tyson later clarified his statements, expressing no ill will towards Mayweather but standing by his disagreement on the Ali comparison. He wished both Mayweather and Pacquiao luck in their upcoming fight.

The disagreement extended to the number of belts in boxing, with Mayweather criticizing the abundance of titles and the associated fees. Tyson, however, defended the multiple belts, arguing they provide more opportunities for fighters to earn money.

Mayweather’s recent exhibition match against Logan Paul also drew opinions from Tyson. He suggested Mayweather should continue fighting opponents closer to his weight class and highlighted that Logan’s weight advantage made the fight more challenging for Mayweather.

Despite the differences, Mayweather commended Tyson as a legendary champion who paved the way for his success. Tyson acknowledged Mayweather’s achievements but expressed concerns about his arrogance.

The debate also touched on potential rematches, with Tyson suggesting Mayweather should face Pacquiao again for a lucrative payday. Mayweather, known for his confidence and indifference to public opinions, didn’t shy away from expressing his views.

The exchange between Mayweather and Tyson showcases the contrasting perspectives of two boxing legends on various aspects of the sport, from fighting styles to legacy and business considerations.

The great rivals finally met in 2015 with Mayweather cruising to a unanimous points decision victory.

Since then Mayweather has beaten Andre Berto and Conor McGregor before hanging up his gloves.

Pacquiao has recently enjoyed a resurgence in his career with wins over Adrien Broner and most recently Keith Thurman.

That has fuelled talk of a rematch between the pair, but Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune doubts Mayweather is interested.

Floyd Mayweather’s advisor sends Manny Pacquiao message about rematch

“I don’t think Floyd Mayweather will fight Manny after [the] Keith Thurman fight,” he told The Manila Times . “But ultimately that’s Floyd’s decision and this is just my opinion.

“Manny won that fight [against Thurman] so I don’t think Floyd will fight him. Floyd has no intention to fight Manny.

“He just loves to be in the media. Manny doesn’t, Floyd does. He just started this social media war, and Manny doesn’t care.

“Manny is an active fighter, fighting top level guys, while Floyd is not. Floyd knows that, Manny knows that, I know that and you know that.

“I would love that fight to happen. If it happens, Manny [would] win. If that fight won’t happen, we fight someone else for a whole bunch of money.”

Floyd Mayweather’s bold Manny Pacquiao rematch prediction after their first fight

One man who does want to fight Pacquiao is former Mayweather opponent Marcos Maidana.

“I’ve already fought with everyone. Pacquiao would be the only one that I haven’t been in with, and I would go directly into that fight,” he told ESPN Deportes.

“What I like is that he comes forward and so do I, and it would be like a crash. I like Pacquiao’s style, it’s going to be a good fight, a fight that people would enjoy, not like the one with Mayweather where you have to run around the ring.

“It was surprising how he looked, he looked better than he did in other fights. He did very well, at 40, it’s surprising.

“There is only one boxer left for me to test myself against, Manny Pacquiao. So with that we are waiting, I would return for him, I would like to do that.”
