Jennifer Lopez’s new Amazon Prime movie is giving fans a lot of insight into her high-profile marriage to Ben Affleck, as the actor himself is opening up on camera about J.Lo. However, she may not be appreciative of everything he’s revealed, after Ben claimed many of Jen’s flaws are a result of being emotionally neglected in childhood.

In her latest documentary This Is Me . . . Now: A Love Story, the Lopez candidly discussed grappling with the challenges posed by her “narcissist” mother and her determination to break the cycle of familial dysfunction, describing her childhood as “painful.” Furthermore, Lopez admitted to feeling “very ignored” by her father during her formative years.

Echoing Lopez’s sentiments, her husband Ben Affleck affirmed her claims, suggesting that she experienced emotional neglect during her upbringing.

“The thing you discover, like you do with alcohol, is that there isn’t enough alcohol in all the liquor stores in the world to fill up that thing,” he said, comparing his wife’s personal challenges to his own struggles with alcohol .

“And, in Jennifer’s case, I don’t think there’s enough followers or movies or records or any of that stuff to still that part in you that still feels a longing and pain,” Ben explained, describing how J.Lo gets validation from her fame and success. “Ultimately, that’s the work you gotta do on your own.”

Affleck’s comments come amid reports of marital strife between the couple, which began brewing shortly after they tied the knot in 2022. Things seemed to escalate last year when photos of Affleck hugging his ex-wife Jennifer Garner were published. Reports said Lopez was embarrassed by the images and insisted on couple’s counseling for her and Ben to improve their relationship.

“Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media,’” Affleck explained in the new doc. “Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like, you’re gonna marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’”

“We’re just two people with different kinds of approaches trying to learn to compromise,” Ben, who shares three kids with his ex Garner, added.
