Dan + Shay

Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney

Country duo Dan + Shay, who previously worked as mentors with Blake Shelton in season 20 and who subbed as coaches for Niall Horan in season 24 when the former One Direction member’s touring dates conflicted with team preparation for the Knockouts, will be the first-ever coaching duo to take part on The Voice. They will sit in a specially constructed double red chair that was built to accommodate the duo. It now reads: “We want you,” instead of “I want you.” The duo also performed “Bigger Houses” on the season 24 finale.

“We are so excited,” Dan Smyers posted on Instagram. “Actually, we’ve never been more excited for anything in our entire lives to announce we are the new coaches for season 25 of The Voice. Shay, are you pumped?”

“I am absolutely fired up,” Shay Mooney answered. “Listen, people have been asking is it two chairs or one? It’s two chairs, but one button.”
