When it comes to remembering the legendary WTA names from the previous decade, Ana Ivanovic holds one of the top positions on the list. While the tennis star has played numerous matches that are recorded in the history of tennis, her sense of pride comes from an achievement that is different from her major victory against Serena Williams.
Recently, Ivanovic opened a Q&A session on X(formerly Twitter) where she accepted questions from fans about both personal and professional aspects of her life. While she was exposed to the task of choosing between two of her memorable matches, her pick sidelined the famous competition against Williams.
The former WTA star was asked to choose between two of her high-magnitude matches. One was her 2008 French Open triumph and the other was her victory over Serena Williams in 2014. Interestingly, the Serb answered, “The @rolandgarros victory in 2008.”
Ana Ivanovic chooses a grand slam win over Serena Williams’ rivalry
While the match didn’t lead her to a title, it surely gave her immense glory. As it was the Serb’s fifth attempt to take down Serena, the victory counted as one of the biggest achievements that she secured during her career.
Ivanovic remembers the moment she won against Williams
Although Ana Ivanovic picked her Grand Slam glory over the victory against Serena Williams, it surely doesn’t point towards her disregard for the achievement. Back in December, the former tennis player shared a video in which she could be seen reacting to the most amazing moments of her life.
While the slideshow contained a picture of her shaking hands with the American tennis legend during their memorable match, she regarded it along with other moments with a caption that said, “Such amazing memories! I always love to think back to my time as an active tennis player.”
As Ana Ivanovic interacted with the fans and answered their queries, her response to a choice between two matches was totally subjective. However, the fact that she treasures both moments highly, shows that she has not just been a great player, but also a humble one.
