The 2024 Indian Wells will see the return of Novak Djokovic to the event for the first time since 2019. He could not play in the recent editions of Indian Wells due to his stance against taking the vaccine. But this year, Djokovic will be finally setting foot on the courts in the US. He has enjoyed his time at Indian Wells and even played soccer at the Indian Wells garden.

The world No.1 was seen dribbling the soccer ball across the field and even scoring a goal. Djokovic scored a no-look heel goal and celebrated with a unique style. He closed his eyes with this palm and celebrated the goal. The video was titled “Messi or Djokovic,” questioning whether Lionel Messi or Djokovic was the GOAT in soccer.

Djokovic has been spending his time well at Indian Wells. He also played in the 20th Annual edition of Desert Smash a few days ago. The Serbian is chasing numerous records in the coming week at the event. He aims to win his 99th career title and the first of this season. Djokovic has played in two events this season and won seven out of nine matches.

Novak Djokovic shares his Olympic dream at Indian Wells

The Indian Wells press conference saw Djokovic talking about the ATP tour and his goals in the game. The 36-year-old spoke about the domination of the big three in the sport and how the youngsters are slowly coming up. Djokovic also supported Rafael Nadal, who had to withdraw from Indian Wells this time due to health concerns.

The 24-time grand slam champion was asked about his Olympic aspirations and possibly playing at the 2028 LA Olympics. Djokovic said,” Everything is on the cards, I just don’t know how many cards I have left. It’s still very far to think about the Los Angeles Olympics games. The thought of it excites me, of course, I love to play that.” The Serbian smiled and said he could not commit to the 2028 Olympics.

Djokovic debuted at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has been competing at the event ever since. In his debut, he won the bronze medal but has faced shocking losses in the subsequent three editions. The Olympic gold is the only title he has yet to win. This year’s Paris Olympics can be yet another defining moment for Djokovic in the sport.
