Jannik Sinner might have lost his semifinal match against Carlos Alcaraz in the 2024 Indian Wells but he sure did win over the internet with a sweet gesture. During the match between Sinner and Alcaraz, it rained for a brief period of time. The Italian was kind enough to invite one of the ball kids over to stay dry under his umbrella while it rained. They were also seen chatting a bit during the delay.

It reminded fans of the time when Novak Djokovic did something similar when it started to rain during his first-round match against Joao Sousa in the 2014 French Open. The Serb invited the ball kid who was holding his umbrella to sit beside him while he took the umbrella from him. He first handed the kid his racket and then gave him a bottle of Perrier while he himself took a sports drink. They then clinked bottles before proceeding to drink in unison.

Jannik Sinner is without a doubt one of the most promising next-gen players in tennis, alongside Carlos Alcaraz. Besides being a good player, he is also very well known for being a gentleman on and off the court and he is praised for it by almost all the other players on the tour.

It is probably one of the many reasons why his fanbase is growing at an exponential rate and incidents like this only help in affirming this side of the Italian.

Jannik Sinner suffered his first loss of the year against Carlos Alcaraz

Sinner suffered his first loss of 2024 against Alcaraz in the semifinal of the Indian Wells. The Italian has won the Australian Open and the ATP Rotterdam so far this season and was also one of the favorites to win the Indian Wells Masters.

However, Alcaraz ousted him, which came as a surprise for many, especially because the Spaniard was going through a rough patch of form for a really long time.

In fact, Sinner had won the first set and then Alcaraz made a comeback from behind to win the match 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 which was simply sensational. The 20-year-old Spaniard went on to defeat Daniil Medvedev in the finals to win the title. Alcaraz won this match in straight sets and with this, he has now won two back-to-back Indian Wells titles.
