Parsons wants to create a legacy at Cowboys like Troy Aikman.
As training camps resume before the 2023 NFL regular season begins, teams are busy extending contracts to their players. Several have already signed lucrative deals, and a few are hoping to get one so that they can focus on their game. However, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is not thinking about how much he wants to earn. He is aiming to win the Super Bowl.
The third-year backer, Parsons, earned All-Pro titles in each of the last two seasons. Naturally, he deserves a raise and is due for one this year. Last year, he was the co-leader in quarterback pressure (90) alongside San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa. But the 24-year-old is not looking to best Bosa; rather, he wants to go past the Playoff hurdle, which the Cowboys can’t seem to overcome.
“If I win this Super Bowl, I don’t have to worry about anything the rest of my life,” Micah Parsons told 105.3 FM The Fan according to The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “It would mean everything to me.” The 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year also emphasized that it’s about building a legacy in Dallas.
“Legacy and leaving a print in a foundation—I think that’s the most pivotal one,” Parsons revealed.“You win a Super Bowl with an organization. That’s a guy you remember forever.” He mentioned Cowboys legends such as Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, whose names are always on the ‘Nations’ lips. According to him, that’s where he wants to end up after hanging up his boots.

Parsons can breathe easily because the players, especially the defenders, are some of the best in the league. Jerry Jones gave fresh deals to both Donovan Wilsonand Leighton Vander Esch. But Parsons wants more from his colleagues.

The 6-foot-3 Penn State graduate is a self-proclaimed hypeman who wants to push teammates to the limit to achieve his dream of winning the Super Bowl. After Thursday’s training camp in Oxnard, California, Parsons talked with the media about his goal for the next few years.
“I’m ready to take everybody to the deep water,” Parsons told the Dallas Morning News. “I hope everyone is prepared.” He aims to see if these Cowboys are ready to swim in the same waters as him. “I want to see how you’re going to swim.”
Micah Parsons on taking his game to the next level: “Man, I’m ready to take everybody to the deep water. Everybody is comfortable when their knees are in the water. I hope everybody is prepared to go in the deep water. In terms of my conditioning and where I’m at, how I… pic.twitter.com/gHgHCuOLwj

That should not be too difficult under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who led the Seahawks to Super Bowl glory in 2013. Last season, the Cowboys ranked second in sacks (95) in the league and first in takeaways.
