Jared Goff hasn’t thrown an interception in 359 pass attempts.

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ opening-day loss to the Detroit Lions was a surprise. The Lions came into the 2023 season with a lot of hype. Their 2022 season, despite the 9-8 record, had a lot of people excited for the team’s future. One of the main reasons for them having a winning record last year was the QB Jared Goff. He signed with the Lions in the 2021 offseason. A former first-overall pick in 2016, Goff had some success with the Los Angeles Rams, reaching the Super Bowl in 2018.

Goff played well in the Lions win against the Chiefs in week 1. He completed 22 of his 35 passes for 253 yards and one score. On ESPN’s show First Take, Stephen A. Smith argued that Goff was the most disrespected QB in the league. His co-host Shannon Sharpe had a different take on it as he felt that Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has been dealing with more disrespect than Goff.

“Jared Goff. Last half of the season, 15 touchdowns, not an interception. They won the season finale at Lambeau Field against Aaron Rodgers, ok.” Smith said when asked who was the most disrespected QB in the league. “You come into this season, although Travis Kelce didn’t play and Tyreek Hill is no longer there, they still beat the reigning defending Super Bowl champions, alright, to open the season on Thursday night. I am just looking at him [Jared Goff] and I’m saying with Dan Campbell motivating him, that culture change he’s instilled in the Motor City, we don’t bring up Jared Goff enough. We gotta do that now, because guess what? He’s had more success in the postseason than Dak Prescott.”

Sharpe countered that by saying, “The most disrespected quarterback is, hands down, Dak Prescott. Can you imagine if had done what [Josh] Allen did Monday night? Can you imagine Dak having a game like that?” Prescott and the Cowboys dismantled the New York Giants in their first game of the season. Although Prescott did not throw any TDs, he was efficient and did not have any turnovers.

Goff and the Lions will host the Seattle Seahawks in their next game at Ford Field. They will hope to build on the win against the Chiefs with another victory on Sunday. Prescott and the Cowboys on the other hand will play the New York Jets at the AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

Jared Goff is a good QB, despite what an average fan wants to believe. The former no.1 overall pick has been to a Super Bowl as the starting quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams. His risk-free approach has him closing the gap on the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers for the longest interception-free streak in NFL history.

His streak currently stands at 359 passes, which has him third on the all-time list. The two players ahead of him are former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady (399) and New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (402). That is just great company to be in.

After a slow start to his NFL career, Goff led the Rams to a Super Bowl appearance in 2018. They eventually lost the game to Tom Brady and the Patriots. Goff, however, had a very good season. He was traded to the Detroit Lions in March 2021. He led the Lions to a surprise win against the reigning champions the Kansas City Chiefs in their week 1 game on September 7.
