Concerts emerged as a significant area of expenditure among Singaporean cardholders, with Taylor Swift’s six shows in Singapore generating substantial ticket sales. UOB cardholders spent a total of $46 million on concert tickets in 2023, with Western pop acts like Taylor Swift leading the way.

In addition to concerts, the UOB report highlighted other major areas of spending among Singaporeans, including coffee, airlines, and fast food. Coffee emerged as a popular choice among consumers, with over $47 million spent on coffee in nearly 4.5 million transactions throughout the year.

Airlines also saw significant spending from UOB cardholders, with over $1 billion spent on air tickets globally. Singapore Airlines emerged as the top choice for travelers, followed by budget subsidiary Scoot, indicating a strong preference for local carriers.

Fast food chains like McDonald’s, KFC, and Burger King also saw substantial spending from UOB cardholders. Burgers accounted for the majority of fast-food transactions, reflecting a preference for quick and convenient meals among consumers.
