Abbott wants Prescott to lead the Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl.
Dak Prescott receives criticism from fans and analysts alike almost every week. However, even the Dallas Cowboys quarterback would not have predicted that politician Greg Abbott to hop on the bandwagon.
On Friday, Abbott, who is part of the Texas Republican government, joined Outkick’s Dan Dakich on ‘Don’t @ Me’. A lifelong Cowboys fan, Abott revealed how he feels his favorite team’s chances are in the new season.
“I’m a big Cowboys fan, and I go to Cowboys games,” Greg Abbott said, according to Joe Morgan of Fox News. “I want to see the Dallas Cowboys back in the Super Bowl.”
The 65-year-old then shared his opinion on Dak Prescott‘s form for the last couple of years. “He is a good quarterback,” Abbott claimed. “[But] he needs to step up and show he can win a big game.”
Prescott led the Cowboys to a championship play-off game for two consecutive seasons. Last season, they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs. He threw for 206 yards, scored only one touchdown all game, and had two interceptions and one sack. Not something the Cowboys Nation would want to repeat in the new season. Prescott himself has assured that he will try his best to throw fewer interceptions than the previous year.
Meanwhile, head coach Mike McCarthy has shown faith in his star signal caller. “The biggest thing for me is to just make sure I’m connected with our players, starting with Dak,” McCarthy said. The 59-year-old’s faith will be put to the test as he is now the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys.

Prescott may still be in the party fever from his birthday week during camp, but his mistakes would definitely have splashed water on them. His recent interceptions may have put a chip on his promise. However, the Pro Bowler is not a quitter. Like Troy Aikman in the ’90s kept coming back stronger.
“Had a lot of adversity within this game and outside of this game,” Prescott revealed, according to ABC. “It’s just shaped me to be the man and the leader. I think I am the right guy for this team to get us exactly there.”
Despite consecutive 12–5 seasons, their failure to close on a high remains a factor. Moreover, injuries also kept him out of the game for a while. He had to go through multiple surgeries to fix his gruesome lower right leg injury that ended his 2020 season. But he seems to be back and healthy.
