Megan Thee Stallion chats with ET’s Rachel Smith about teaming up with Frito-Lay’s Flamin’ Hot to form Flamin’ Hot University in an effort to encourage students to prioritize their education.
Flamin’ Hot University will also have its own exclusive merchandise, with all proceeds going toward establishing a scholarship fund at Texas Southern University, Megan’s Alma Mater.
Flamin’ Hot will make a separate contribution to the Pete and Thomas Foundation, the non-profit organization that Megan launched in 2022.
The rapper also dishes on her recent collab with Cardi B on ‘Bongos,’ their first one since their 2020 hit, ‘WAP,’ and shares why they’re each other’s go-to gals.
Plus, Meg reacts to her viral moment meeting Justin Timberlake backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she and Cardi also performed their new single together.
Cardi B feels “special” that Megan Thee Stallion chose to team up with her on “Bongos.”
In an episode of the Spout podcast released on Friday, the “I Like It” rapper opened up about Megan, 28, deciding to work with her on her first single since Tory Lanez was sentenced in August to 10 years in prison for shooting her three years ago.
“I feel very special. I feel really, very like thank you for trusting me,” Cardi, 30, tells The Spout podcast. “I know what it feels like when you feel like everybody, like, turned your back. Don’t ever think it’s because you did something wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong. People just love something to debate about.”
She also revealed that she was apprehensive about dropping “Bongos” because it was her first one “in a very long time.” “
“Bongos,” released last week, also marks the two Grammy winners’ first follow-up since their 2020 hit “WAP.” Their past collaboration made history as the first female rap collaboration to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, going on to spend four weeks at the top spot.
“Especially this one because, you know, like I haven’t dropped a single in a very long time and Megan hadn’t dropped a single in a very long time. So, it’s just like I just want to make sure that, like, we drop like a powerful single, like a great single,” Cardi tells host Tamra Dhia.
“And then on top of that, this is a very different sound that I don’t feel like people are used to from me or from Megan. So, it’s just like, I wonder how, like, people will receive it, and everything. I just feel like, you know, this is fun; this is good.”

Cardi also elaborated on why she enjoys championing and collaborating with other women in the hip-hop industry.
“You know, it’s not really about showing love,” she says. “I’m a female, so I personally am going to like a female rap song. Because as I can relate to, I could bump to, the things that you’re saying I’m enjoying and I’m relating to and I like it because I’m a girl.”
The rap star also discussed how she understands that everyone has to look out for themselves in this industry.
She says, “If we do a song, I don’t expect, like, you to pick a side or anything or like, I feel like you can work with whoever you want to work with because, at the end of the day, this is a business. This is a business and you gotta look out for yourself, always. Always.
But however, just don’t s— on me or don’t show me like you kind of like a fake bitch, because that would be breaking my heart and that be making me want to, like, when I see you, I’m gonna let you know, like, and I express myself when I have to express myself.”
Cardi has yet to release a full-length album since her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy, but “Bongos” is the latest among the string of singles she’s dropped over the past few years, including 2022’s “Hot S—” and 2021’s “Up.”
