The Kansas City Chiefs are set to play in their second consecutive Super Bowl, having booked their spot with a surprising win over the Baltimore Ravens.

However, one of their stars will be going into Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers with a heavy heart.

With Super Bowl week in full swing and players speaking to the media daily, Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor is said to have told reporters he lost his mother and would be dedicating the game to her.

Well, that’s what began doing the rounds online. But Taylor’s mother is alive and well; his grandmother is the one who passed away ahead of one of the biggest games of his career.

“Long Live Mary Taylor,” the OT posted on social media to honor his deceased grandma.

Fans have taken to social media to lend support.

Taylor has gone through a lot over the past few years, having also lost his dad to an unexpected passing in January 2022.

He signed a four-year deal worth $80 million with the Chiefs last offseason after spending the first four years of his professional metier with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
