Kylie Kelce shared an interesting detail about her husband’s NFL retirement speech, revealing that Jason Kelce had been working on it for four years before delivering it on Monday. Speaking to local Philadelphia media, Kylie mentioned that she had heard the speech before its official delivery and expressed her admiration for its power and how it perfectly summed up his 13-year NFL career.
“I think I was the only one that had heard the speech before he went into it,” she said. “I think it was just a perfect summary of 13 years. It was an incredible run he had as a player in the NFL. I’ve heard multiple versions over the last four years. This was a completely different version. I think every year he sort of started from scratch as to what was sitting on the surface,” she continued. “But when he said that he was contemplating retirement for years, he means for years.”

The emotional impact of Kelce’s speech extended beyond just his wife, as his brother Travis was visibly moved to tears during the ceremony. Jason thanked Travis for his significant role in his career, leading to an emotional moment for both of them. Their mother, Donna, was also shown to be emotional during the heartfelt retirement speech.

Jason’s own emotions were evident as well, as he struggled to hold back tears throughout the 40-minute speech. He paid tribute to the city of Philadelphia and his wife, highlighting the significance of meeting Kylie at a 2014 Philadelphia Eagles Christmas Party.

Despite initially hinting at retirement after the 2021 season, Kelce ultimately decided to continue playing and signed a one-year deal with the Eagles worth $14 million, solidifying his status as the highest-paid center in the entire NFL.

Kelce‘s illustrious career includes numerous accolades such as six First-team All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowl appearances. His achievements place him among a select group of centers in NFL history, with only four others being members of the Hall of Fame. Additionally, Kelce was part of the Eagles’ historic Super Bowl LII victory against the New England Patriots.
