Maxx Crosby opened up on the “Mahomes Rules”

MAXX Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders are pulling out an old ’90s NBA tactic to try and stop one of the league’s best quarterbacks and don’t care if people have an issue with it.

The 26-year-old Las Vegas Pro Bowl defender supported Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce’s comments from last month when he revealed the team had “Jordan Rules” for Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

Pierce stopped by Crosby’s podcast in late February and disclosed the team’s desire and plan to slow down the superstar QB.

He detailed how the Raiders wanted to implement a way to contain Mahomes, similar to what the legendary 1980s Detroit Pistons had notoriously done to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

That team was known for their aggressive defense on Jordan and won back-to-back titles as a result.

“We’ve got the Jordan rules, and we’ve got what I’m calling now, from now on as long as I’m here, the Patrick Mahomes rules,” Pierce said on The Rush with Maxx Crosby.

“You remember when Jordan was going through it with the Pistons, all those guys in the ’80s before he became Michael Jordan, Air Jordan, the Pistons used to whip his ass.”

“Any time he came to the hole, elbows, feeling him, love taps. We’re in his head, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. I’m touching you.

“So I showed my guys Jordan getting his ass whooped.”

Peirce’s comments were met with a ton of backlash from fans and media members, as many implied he wanted his team to play dirty.

On Wednesday, Crosby defended his coach’s statement when he spoke to ‘Vegas Sports Today’ and expressed that people took “things out of context” while offering more information on the “Mahomes Rule.”

“People are sensitive these days, so they take things out of context,” Crosby said.

“But, yeah, he’s got multiple MVPs and Super Bowls; if we wanna win, we gotta take him down. That goes for everybody.”

“He knows I’m coming for him; I’m on that energy every day. It’s not malicious…”

“We play the game the right way, but we play with ill intent, and we play violent.”

The Raiders were the last team to beat the Chiefs before their Super Bowl-winning run.

Pierce was the interim head coach at the time and oversaw the defense that caused Mahomes to be sacked four times in the contest.

He took over as head coach midway through the season after the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.

Pierce would lose his interim tag last month to become the official Raiders head coach.
