Pat McAfee has revealed that he became somewhat of an insomniac while his ESPN show was at the center of another rift between Aaron Rodgers and Jimmy Kimmel during the NFL playoffs, last season.

Appearing on this week’s episode of Showtime’s ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, which is hosted by former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, the ex-Colts punter questioned if he was doing the right thing on his eponymous TV show after it caught people’s attention due to Rodgers’ controversial comments on the COVID-19 jab and other topics.

The 39-year-old, Jets quarterback was also being paid handsomely – seven figures, that is – while making appearances each week.

But things got out of hand after Rodgers implied that Kimmel could be mentioned on a list connecting people with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

‘The block got real hot for about three weeks,’ McAfee said at first on the aftermath of Kimmel’s spat with Rodgers, as the late night show host threated to sue the one-time Super Champion, adding that he was no expert on the NFL player’s claims.

‘[…] There were a lot of times where I’m like, ”Do I deserve to have this platform if I don’t know everything about everything? So this s*** can’t happen and people don’t end up hating us,’ McAfee further revealed.

‘[…] Because there was nights I couldn’t sleep. Like I’m like, ”maybe I am f***ing this up completely.’

McAfee claims that he predicted all the hate coming his way because he would let Rodgers say anything live on-air with no filter, whatsoever.

He revealed that he was ‘swore at in like 30 different languages’ because of Rodgers’ vaccine status. He was also called ‘the worst human on Earth.’

McAfee said he sat down with Shannon Sharpe, who, in addition to appearing on ESPN, also is the host of his own podcast – ‘Club Shay Shay’ – which has made some headline-making news in the past due to comments from guests, including Chad ‘OchoCinco’ Johnson.

After talking with the former tight end in the buildup to the Super Bowl, he realized that his show’s audience was in ‘real time learning about [Rodgers] completely’ by allowing him to speak.

‘I think we’re just a different style of programming,’ McAfee pointed out. ‘We’re a conversationalist. We have no idea where we’re headed. We don’t have scheduled questions. I don’t prep anybody when they’re coming on. I don’t have a list of questions. I’m just having a conversation with people and boy, it has certainly got us into some s***.

‘But it has also got us some magic.’
