“Stephen Curry for President” or “Vote for Steph Curry” might be something we will hear shortly. Since the Warriors superstar made his political aspirations known, that is all everyone can talk about. How he would be a perfect fit for running the country, how Curry would draw voters in, how his relationship with ex-POTUS Barack Obama is a hint at Steph being serious about his remark, and so on.

But even amidst all of this, there were a few doubters who just couldn’t see how the 4x champion could lead a country when he barely speaks up in the locker room. But the Dubs coach Steve Kerr begs to differ. Kerr has known Stephen as long as anyone on the team. And he is in complete support of his star player running for President. Joining The Rich Eisen Show, the 9x champion says, “Steph is so talented, but so authentically humble, and yet incredibly gifted and confident all at once … He uses his popularity for good, genuinely cares about people, and the welfare of his community in the Bay and I’d vote for him.”

The doubters were the co-hosts, Cameron and Mase, of the podcast Come and Talk 2 Me. While Cameron said that Steph wouldn’t even speak up in the locker room, Mase seemed sure that he would quit after a year. But as Kerr said, it’s hard not to envision the soon-to-be father of four as the future POTUS.

Stephen Curry as the President – Yay or Nay?

There are certainly a lot of factors that would work in favor of Stephen Curry if he does run for president. For one, he is a household name. The Curry family is one of the most beloved and loved celebrity families out there. Steph and his wife, Ayesha Curry, are ardent advocates for the upliftment of women, especially of color, and underrepresented communities.

They are also passionate about philanthropic endeavors. Their foundation, Eat.Learn.Play is a testament to the same. Stephen Curry, before he gained worldwide recognition and respect, underwent challenges that would weaken any kid. Primarily, his slender frame and short stature were the pain points. He wasn’t even a four-star recruit. This experience was what led to the humble beginnings of the UNDERRATED Basketball and Golf. To provide opportunities for kids who are passed over because they aren’t a four-star or five-star recruit.

These are, of course, just a few examples of Stephen Curry giving back to his community and developing Oakland and the Bay area. But he was adamant about “leveraging his influence for good” and not stopping his work anytime soon. Just imagine the things he could do if he were the President of the United States.
