Kelly Oubre may have been involved in an on-court scuffle during Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks, but he isn’t too concerned about tensions carrying over.

The Philadelphia 76ers guard laughed off his in-game altercation with Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo and center Isaiah Hartenstein, saying “no one” in the NBA will actually fight.

“I don’t got no enemies in this league. It was just funny. All of that stuff is funny to me. I don’t know why. I just laugh ’cause nobody’s finna fight. So at the end of the day, I’ll see you Tuesday, bruv,” Oubre told reporters.

The scuffle took place in the fourth quarter of the Sixers’ 79-73 victory when DiVincenzo tackled Oubre to the ground after Oubre stood over him following a foul. Hartenstein rushed over into the fracas and then got into a back-and-forth with Paul Reed.

DiVencenzo, Hartenstein and Reed were all assessed technical fouls but stayed in the game.

Oubre finished with a team-high 18 points in the lowest-scoring game of the 2023-24 NBA season.

In-game altercations leading to actual fights has been exceedingly rare in recent years. Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart was arrested and cited for punching Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks prior to a game in February, and Draymond Green was suspended 16 games for hitting Jusuf Nurkić in the face in December.

Prior to those incidents, the most notable acts of violence in NBA circles of late have been between teammates.

Draymond Green spent time away from the Golden State Warriors in 2022 after punching Jordan Poole, and Bobby Portis was suspended eight games in 2017 for punching teammate Nikola Mirotić. Both of those incidents took place in practice.

The last actual in-game fight that resulted in suspensions for thrown punches came in 2006 when Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Mardy Collins and Nate Robinson were all involved in a brawl.
