With several big-named players facing uncertain futures in La La Land, the Los Angeles Chargers are one of the most interesting teams to follow on the 2024 NFL trade market.

The Bolts are up against the salary cap and have four notable players who have been widely mentioned as potential trade candidates or cuts in cash-saving moving: Wide receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen and star pass-rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.

If new GM Joe Hortiz and head coach Jim Harbaugh decide to move on from Bosa, they’ll certainly prefer to get something in compensation via trade rather than cut and lose him for nothing. And perhaps no team could use Bosa’s services more than the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings are likely to lose top pass-rusher Danielle Hunter in free agency, as well as starting quarterback Kirk Cousins. With a mountain of cap space on the horizon, and with reinforcements needed on defense, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah should see if Bosa can be had at a reasonable price.

The Chargers would surely prefer to trade Bosa to a team outside of the AFC. And with the Vikings in a retooling phase, it makes sense to bring in a soon-to-be 29-year-old Bosa who still has lots of quality football left in him.

Minnesota should offer its 2024 second-round pick (42nd overall) to the Chargers for Bosa. That feels like a fair price considering the Bolts had to give up 2022 second and 2023 sixth-round picks to the Chicago Bears for Mack two years ago.

Bosa has been limited to 14 games over the last two years, and his hefty contract means there will be limited suitors. So the Chargers should be realistic with their asking price, and a day-two pick for Bosa is more than fair.
