Everything you need to know about why Megan Fox left the ‘Transformers’ franchise and if she would ever return.

When Megan Fox was initially introduced to the Transformers franchise as Mikaela Banes in the first installment of the action/sci-fi saga, fans were in true awe of her. Then came the second installment Revenge of the Fallen, where Banes finally professed her love for Sam Witwicky. But the next film that followed had no sign of Banes whatsoever, instead, a new lover of Witwicky’s was introduced.

Since then, a lot of speculation surrounded the reason behind Fox’s sudden unexpected exit from the $5.2 billion saga that brought Mark Wahlberg on board, and whether she would come back in the upcoming eighth installment of the film series or not. Well, here are all the answers to these questions, from why she left to if she would return. Read on!

The Real Reason Why Megan Fox Left the Transformers Saga

Even though Megan Fox‘s character of Mikaela Banes played a major role in the saga, she was eliminated from the saga nonetheless before the third installment, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. And fans might find the reason behind this to be a bit sillier than expected.

Back in 2009, the Jennifer’s Body actress got into an interview with Wonderland, where she got a bit too candid while talking about what she found to be the least favorite thing about working with filmmaker Michael Bay.

Not only did she claim Michael Bay was “like Napoleon” and “wants to be like Hitler on his sets” because he “wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation,” but she also called him “so hopelessly awkward” in real life.

Since she called him “a nightmare to work for” who is “vulnerable and fragile in real life and then on set, he’s a tyrant,” it seems the film’s executive producer Steven Spielberg took it a bit too much to the heart and asked Bay to fire her immediately.

According to what the renowned filmmaker (Bay) shared ahead of the premiere of the third installment of the saga on the 4th of July (via The Guardian): “You know the Hitler thing? Steven (Spielberg) said, fire her right now.”

Thus, she was fired, and so was her character with the explanation that the two had broken up. In her stead, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was introduced as Carly Spencer, i.e. Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky’s new love interest.

Still, one question remains: Will Fox’s character Mikaela Banes return to the $5.2 billion saga that cast Mark Wahlberg in Sam Witwicky’s stead when LaBeouf decided to leave? Here’s what we know about the matter.

Will Megan Fox Return in Transformers 8?

The question of Fox’s return to Bay’s franchise has been asked one too many times. And while the answer to this is yet to be revealed officially, here’s what we can say: She just might. Meaning, there are chances of her return.

This stands because of the following reasons:

1. While Dark of the Moon merely showed that Shia LaBeouf‘s Witwicky had broken up with Fox’s Banes, it was never truly explained what happened to her character next. Thus, even though Witwicky is canonically dead, Banes isn’t and just might make her unexpected return.

2. The Till Death actress has already reconciled with Michael Bay — as many of you must be questioning, considering how her feud was the reason behind her firing — and even worked on his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saga.

Thus, because of these 2 reasons, the possibility for another potential collaboration between Bay and Fox doesn’t seem all too unlikely, especially if we’re talking about the Transformers franchise, which is pretty much used to leaving easter eggs behind.

In a nutshell, if we’re lucky enough, we just might be able to see Fox reprise her beloved character in the $5.2 billion franchise, even though nothing can be said for sure for now.

Transformers 8 is expected to hit the theatres by late 2025.
