Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd suffered an on air blunder during on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain.

Appearing on the programme alongside Ben Price, 51, the pair discussed how far they think their co-star Colson Smith, 25, will go on Celebrity Big Brother.

But during the live interview Jack, 36, who stars as David Platt in the soap, was forced to apologise when his phone started ringing in his pocket.

Bursting out into fits of laughter the actor revealed he had forgotten to turn off his alarm.

‘Is that your phone?’ host Susanna Reid questioned, with Jack replying: ‘It’s my alarm to wake up!’

‘What a lovely alarm,’ she added as he laughed: ‘It’s the birds!’

‘We must have missed the show. It’s 8 o’clock you’re on!,’ Ben joked.

Continuing on with the interview Susanna asked if they think Colson will go all the way to the Big Brother final, Ben replied: ‘He is now, I think.’

Jack added: ‘Now he’s got the minutes of him crying on television I think he’s certainly up there.’

‘He’s a good guy, he’s a nice guy,’ Ben said.

This week, Colson was praised by Celebrity Big Brother viewers for opening up about his struggles with food during Monday’s episode.

The Coronation Street actor has lost around 10 stone since 2020 after discovering a love of running during the lockdown.

But in a candid confession to housemate Sharon Osbourne, Colson revealed that amid his weight loss battle he used to starve himself and binge eat junk food – before deciding to overhaul his lifestyle.

‘I lost weight when I was 18 through quite a strict diet and what I found was that I was gaining weight and then I’d try and diet again,’ Colson said. ‘I wouldn’t eat for a day and a half. I would just starve myself.’

‘Then I’d be that hungry…’ Colson, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, began to say, before Sharon added: ‘The floodgates would burst.’

Nodding in agreement, Colson admitted: ‘I used to drive to KFC and I used to order three meals.

‘Then I would hate myself so I wouldn’t eat again for a day and a half and it would be that for months and months and months.’

Sharon, who has confessed she lost ‘too much’ weight using the diabetic drug Ozempic, replied: ‘A rollercoaster. You know people who don’t have to worry about their weight, they have no idea how hard it is… it’s a killer.’

Colson went on to praise his girlfriend for supporting him through his struggle, and added: ‘I am glad that I’ve done what I’ve done the way I’ve done it, and I’ve the level of control that I got with it because I have a discipline and I also understand myself.’

Colson said: ‘That fat kid is the kid that I’ve looked at every day in the mirror and I still see him now.

CBB viewers were moved by Colson’s confession, and applauded him for having the courage to speak out.

‘It’s unusual to hear a man speaking about an eating disorder or struggling with a food addiction, kudos to Colson for sharing his story,’ one person said on X, formerly Twitter.

Another wrote: ‘Colson talking about his weight and eating issues is so important. It’s great that he has felt comfortable enough to open up about his struggles.’

While a third said: ‘Eating disorders really can dictate ur life. The self hate and harsh treatment you give urself is a silent killer. (sic)

‘I’m so glad Colson found peace and a healthy relationship with food.’

In an interview with Runner’s World in 2021, Colson previously described his eating habits before his lifestyle switch as ‘self-harming’.

‘It’s a battle I’m probably going to carry with me for the rest of my life. You don’t shrug off that kind of thing so easily.

‘But I’m not going to take a big pay cheque to hold up a pair of my old trousers. I want to tell the story my way.’

During the conversation with Colson, Sharon, 71, who has faced criticism over her slimmed down look after using the drug which is meant for diabetes, described losing weight as a ‘killer’.

In the latest episode, the music manager claimed people who don’t need to lose weight have ‘no idea what it’s like’ to drop the pounds.

The TV personality has been open about using the weight loss drug Ozempic, which is used to treat diabetes.

However, the music manager said she has since struggled to put weight on after shedding the pounds using the drug.

Speaking on Loose Women earlier this year, she said: ‘I don’t regret it. Everything with weight with me was, “I want it now.”

‘The injections that I was on worked, but it just seems that now I can’t put anything on really.’
