Sharon Osbourne was paid nearly £7,000 for every minute she appeared on screen during her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house, it has been revealed.

The former X Factor star, 71, sparked a huge furore when it was revealed she’d joined the star-studded lineup of the ITV reality show, with an eye-watering fee to match.

However, fans were disappointed when it was revealed that she would only be living in the house temporarily as a ‘lodger,’ joining housemates such as Louis Walsh, Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Fern Britton and Gary Goldsmith.

It was previously reported that ITV bosses were unable to match the huge fee Sharon requested to take part in the show, with sources claiming that she would still be paid a huge £100,000 per day.

After nine days of living in the house, Sharon finally said farewell during a live eviction episode on Tuesday, and it seems that ITV really had to splash out for every minute Sharon appeared on screen.

Over the series’ first nine episodes, totalling nearly eight hours, Sharon appeared on screen for a total of two hours and 13 minutes.

This calculates to £6,767 per minute, including Sharon’s entrance, exit and interview on spin-off Late and Live.

While it was heavily reported that Sharon would only be living in the Celebrity Big Brother house for five days, she ended up staying for nine.

No doubt bosses will believe they got their money’s worth, after Sharon was at the centre of many house twists, and making global headlines with her brutal views of other stars.

Viewers saw Sharon’s emotional farewell to the house live in Tuesday’s episode, and again in Wednesday’s highlights show.

While fans admitted they’ll miss her jaw-dropping story-telling, the housemates hailed her as an ‘OG Kris Jenner’ and ‘royalty’.

In Wednesday’s episode, Sharon was treated to a farewell tea party and hilariously dresses up as David Potts.

As the group toasted to Sharon during a dinner party, Sharon became visibly emotional listening to their sweet messages.

Scones, jam, cream! This is so lovely,’ while Levi told Sharon: You’re royalty.’

Sharon added: ‘I’ve had a great time, met new friends and I’m gonna watch you all on your paths… and may all your dreams come true.’

Fern said: ‘You’ve navigated a life that has been full of excitement and also tribulations and you’ve always emerged tremendously gracious and very well loved.’

As the tears started to shed during the heartfelt speeches, Louis said to Sharon: ‘Stop crying, because you’re going to make me cry!’

Marisha Wallace said: ‘You know who was the original Kris Jenner, it’s Sharon Osbourne. She was the first one to really do that, with the family and make an empire like that.’

Going out with a bang, Sharon dressed up in David’s sunglasses and bright pink coat and strut through the bedroom, while the housemates told her: ‘You ate!’

Sharon joined the cast as Big Brother’s ‘lodger’, staying in her own living quarters complete with private toilet, and has lasted a total of nine days in the TV house.

She had previously revealed that she could only stay on the ITV series for a short period due to needing to get back to husband Ozzy Osbourne, 75, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019.

She said: ‘I don’t want to stay away from Ozzy for too long. We’re incredibly close as a family.

‘I can’t recall a time when I went a week without speaking to any of them. Through all our fights and feuds, we’ve maintained communication, and this separation will undoubtedly be the longest.’

The ‘original reality star’ has been vocal about her opinions since starring on the programme, making scathing remarks towards the likes of singer Adele and former talk show host James Corden.
