He was due to battle it out with Ryan Thomas, Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, and Made In Chelseas star Miles Nazaire on the ice, and Greg was the frontrunner to win.

In the end ex-Coronation Street actor Ryan, 39, was crowned the winner, and today he admitted that the result might have turned out differently had Greg skated in the final.

Responding to Ryan’s high praise on Tuesday, Greg took to his Instagram Stories and revealed that he was finally out of danger and out of hospital.

He hinted he suffered an abdominal injury, saying he had been for a scan on his stomach and revealing that it “hurt to laugh”.

Greg, 37, told fans: “I’ve just this second walked in the door after having a scan on my stomach.

“I’ve just seen what Ryan’s been saying on Lorraine. First and foremost Ryan you should never have imposter syndrome.

“You were the worthy winner of the show, king of the spin from day one.

“And just an amazing human to be around, you should keep the trophy. I don’t need to see your name on the trophy thank you very much!”

Laughing, he added: “Ow, it hurts laughing! It really hurts.

“As I said you were the worthy winner, you were incredible from day one, and it was an honour to be in that competition with you.

“I’m thrilled to bits that you won, I said it the other day and I’ll say it again. So well done mate. We’ll get together soon don’t you worry. Keep that trophy.”

Fresh from his win on the ice rink, Ryan appeared on today’s Lorraine with his professional skating partner Amani Fancy.

He told host Lorraine Kelly: “I became very close with Greg, we’ve got similarities: both got kids, being away from home and dedicating our lives to this.

“If I’m honest, it would have been a tough call because the competition was high, and Greg was definitely competition.”

He continued: “So in some sense Greg, if you’re watching… I’m not glad you went out, but you’re the reason I probably got the trophy.”

It comes as Greg’s Dancing On Ice coach worried fans when she burst into tears on the live show on Sunday and was comforted by Holly Willoughby.
