This monument of action movies has returned with a completely new image
Considered a monument to the action film genre for a long time, Arnold Schwarzenegger suddenly disappeared when he had to devote all his attention to his job as Governor of California in 2003.
After 10 years of absence, Arnold Schwarzenegger reconnected with cinema through the movie “The Last Stand” .
The film is the story of police chief Ray Owens (played by Schwarzenegger ) who leaves Los Angeles and moves to work in the quiet border town of Sommerton Junction.
However, the peaceful life of the people here was completely disturbed when Gabriel Cortez (played by Eduardo Noriega ) – the most notorious smuggling boss in the Western Hemisphere, successfully made a risky escape.
but extremely spectacularly out of the hands of the FBI.
Official poster of the movie
With the help of a group of ferocious outlaws led by the cold-hearted Burrell ( Peter Stormare ), Cortez takes a hostage and begins his escape. towards the US-Mexico border in a specially designed Corvette ZR1 at a speed of 250 mph.
Cortez ‘s planned journey is to head straight to Summerton Junction – where US government authorities including agent John Bannister (played by Forest Whitaker ) – have the last chance to capture Cortez before he dies.
This dangerous boss escaped to the other side of the border.
At first, Ray Owens was quite hesitant to participate in this case, but then he decided to convene his team to handle the case and engage in an extremely fierce confrontation.
This film also marks the first work in America by famous Korean action filmmaker Kim Jee-woon based on the script by Andrew Knauer .
Besides Schwarzenegger , the film also brings together famous actors including Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville, Rodrigo Santoro, Jaimie Alexander …
Those who are fans of the hero Arnold will surely have completely new experiences when enjoying this movie
Schwarzenegger also shared that he felt a deep sympathy for his character – a hero who had everything in his hands, but now chose to live a completely different life, taking on the responsibility of protecting peace for a small town, where he never expected he would have so much trouble.
Schwarzenegger commented: “My character has experienced everything during his time working at the Los Angeles Police Department, but everything is in the past.
He seemed to be waiting for retirement, and planned to live a peaceful life, until criminals came to his town.”
Arnold continues to be a hero, but adopts a much more “mature” image than before
Just like Sheriff Owens , Schwarzenegger had to participate in risky actions again after a long “rest”.
He shared: “I remember once visiting a studio as Governor of a state, and witnessing an actor hanging upside down.
A friend asked me, do you remember that feeling?
And I said, I’d rather be in Sacramento with the legislature and all the trouble than hang around like that. I personally think I will never be able to do such things again.
Yet in this movie, from the beginning to the end, I had to fight, climb, run, jump and drive at terrible speeds…I thought my road back to action movies was easy. How wonderful.”
