Joe Rogan was having a chat with Derek of More Plates More Dates when the discussion shifted to a strange Sylvester Stallone video. The video shared by the Rocky actor shows him lifting ridiculously heavy weights, albeit with a lot of huffing and puffing.
Joe Rogan and Derek were convinced that the weights were fake and we aren’t gonna lie, their assessment is pretty credible. While on one hand, we have an MMA icon, on the other hand, is one of the most influential fitness influencers ever.

While Joe Rogan argued that the actor didn’t need any, some contended that the clip was just a spoof since he wasn’t stupid enough to believe anyone would buy it.

On June 07, 2021, Sylvester Stallone posted a video to his social media accounts where he was seen doing the classic front raise as he held on to a forty-five-pound weight in each of his hands.
As Stallone went from his knees to standing on his feet to back on his knees, he was seen grunting heavily. And while many people were surprised to see the actor pull it off at the age of 75, a lot of them called him out for supposedly using fake weights.
Talking about this on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, host Joe Rogan stated that the “dumbest fake weight” use was done by Stallone. To this, Derek replied stating that it was “absurd” just how much the Hollywood icon was trying to sell the whole act. Rogan continued,
“It’s like, what happened man? Are you okay? How much attention do you need, you are Sylvester Stallone. This is crazy!…[Do] you think he was trying to be funny or do you think he was trying to sell it?”
Derek then chimed in to say that a lot of people won’t believe Stallone was “dumb enough to think people are going to buy it” and that the entire video was meant to be a joke.
Rogan pointed out that Stallone was from a different time to which Derek replied stating, “I know! That’s why you might think he just is actually trying to sell it.”
To this date, the Creed actor has neither confirmed nor denied whether he was using fake weights in the video. The Internet remains divided with many stating that Stallone was just simply too strong and that those questioning him are just haters. What’s your opinion?

Since the discussion revolved around weights, there was no way fitness YouTubers were going to sit this one out. They took to their respective channels to analyze Stallone’s video and share their thoughts on the matter. One YouTuber, Simon Miller, was of the belief that the actor was simply joking as he stated,
“[Stallone] was just having a little bit of a joke – he’s making really weird noises and it was like no lift I’ve ever seen before. There’s every chance it’s not meant to be taken seriously.”
On the other side of the debate, YouTube Scott Herman stated this was just a publicity stunt. He gave his reasons why he thought the weights were fake and then stated, “People do stuff like this all the time…The man knows what he’s doing which is why he is one of the most successful actors there’s ever been. I think it’s a publicity stunt.”
However, why would an actor of Stallone’s caliber need to pull such a publicity stunt? It looks like the debate has reached no conclusion and Stallone himself couldn’t care less as the video is still up on his socials.
