It is difficult to miss out on Sylvester Stallone’s billion-dollar action drama franchises Rocky and Rambo when we talk about the biggest blockbusters of the 1980s.
He has been the face of both Rocky and Rambo franchises ever since their inception in Hollywood. At the age of 73, he was last seen in the 2019 released Rambo: Last Blood.
Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo
Sylvester Stallone Nominated Ryan Gosling To Replace Him In Rambo
Sylvester Stallone has grown up with the Rambo franchise. The first installment of Rambo was released in December 1982. The action drama franchise went on to make around $125 million against a budget of $15 million.
The American actor and filmmaker went on to reprise the character of John Rambo in five installments of the reputed action drama franchise.
During an appearance on the widely watched chat show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sylvester Stallone revealed that he would love to see Ryan Gosling as John Rambo.
The 77-year-old actor believes that the La La Land actor is the perfect actor to play John Rambo.
While talking about meeting Ryan Gosling over dinner, and coming across the fact that he is a huge Rambo fan, Stallone mentioned that if he ever passes the baton, Ryan Gosling would be the perfect choice for John Rambo because he loves the character. He said-
“I’ll tell you why. I met him at a dinner, and obviously, we’re opposites, he’s good-looking, I’m not, that’s how it works. No, but seriously, imagine me as Ken like ‘Yeah,’ it doesn’t work, at all. But he goes ‘I’m always fascinated by Rambo.”
He further explained-
“And I used to go to school dressed as Rambo, and people would chase me away, and I still didn’t stop, and I you know, vacationed as Rambo.’
He just kept saying that he had a lot of affiliation with Rambo. And I thought ‘You know, this is interesting, if I ever pass the baton, I’ll pass it onto him because he loves the character. I don’t know if anyone would say ‘he’s too good-looking to play Rambo.”
However, Rambo: Last Blood was released in 2019. There has been no update on the upcoming installment of the Rambo franchise.
Rambo: Last Blood failed to make an impact on the box office and as well as critically.
The project fell flat on the face and this is one of the biggest reasons for no update on the upcoming chapter from the Rambo franchise.
Sylvester Stallone Reveals He Was Almost Cast As Ken In Greta Gerwig’s Barbie
Ryan Gosling became the face of Ken in Greta Gerwig-led Barbie. The movie featured a list of actors like Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Dua Lipa, America Ferrera, and Will Ferrell in different versions of Ken and Barbie. Sylvester Stallone revealed that he was almost about to be a part of one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Rocky star revealed that he was asked to be a part of Barbie, but turned it down due to the scheduling conflicts with respect to Tulsa King. He said-
The director said, “Do you want to be in the film?” I said, “I’d love to be in the film.” And then I was stuck on Tulsa King, so I couldn’t be on.
And then they took kind of my image, and with Ryan [Gosling]. And it was, like, amazing. So that’s the story… They put him in a fur coat.
Sylvester Stallone in Rocky
Sylvester Stallone could not become a part of Barbie, but he has been the face of influenced masculinity from his Rocky and Rambo days.
Ryan Gosling’s Barbie went on to amass a whopping box office collection of $1.44 billion leaving behind Christopher Nolan’s biographical drama Oppenheimer.
