Theo James has admitted feeling “regret” over using a stage name as The Gentlemen reaches the top spot on Netflix.
The Gentlemen has been years in the making, with director Guy Ritchie transforming the world of his 2019 film for the small screen with a new set of morally ambiguous characters.
Leading the all-star cast is Divergent and The White Lotus actor Theo James as Eddie Horniman who unexpectedly becomes the new Duke of Halstead after his father passes away.
Little did he know that a massive drug empire is operating on his family’s estate with his older troublesome brother Freddy Horniman (Daniel Ings) bringing more troubles to his door.
And while he has an ever-growing fanbase, not everyone will know that Theo James isn’t actually the 39-year-old’s name.
Theo James shares his ‘regret’ at not using real name as The Gentlemen is No.1 on Netflix.
The actor’s dad, Philip Taptiklis, is reportedly a business consultant, while his mum Jane Martin worked for the NHS.
He is also the youngest of the family, with two older brothers and two older sisters, but they have decided to stay out of the spotlight.
During a conversation about his real name, James did share on Live With Kelly and Ryan, now Live With Kelly and Mark, a regret he carried with him.
The Gentlemen star Theo James’ real name is Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis.
When asked to state his long name, he first joked: “Sexy or weird? One of the two.
He then elaborated: “James is my middle name and I use that and in a funny way, I kind of regret it.
“When I first started as an actor, it was 15 years ago, and I remember an agent saying: ‘Taptiklis, too Greek. Go with James.’
Host Kelly Ripley then piped up with: “There is no such thing as too Greek!”, with James agreeing and clarifying it wasn’t his current agent who made the comment.

But director Ritchie has previously expressed interest in making the show into a multi-series drama.
And given that the eight-part series has already made it to the number one spot on the streamer just a few days after its release, there is a good chance a second outing could be on the way.
