The Cleveland Browns are adding some depth to their backfield, having signed a new running back ahead of the upcoming 2024 NFL season.

Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry has been attracting plaudits for his work this offseason and it appears he has no intention of slowing down after bringing in some notable players, including former Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the AFC outfit is set to bring in D’Onta Foreman following his stint in Chicago. The RB played nine games for the Bears in 2023.

Foreman was a third-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2017 but injuries ruined his rookie campaign. The RB scored a pair of touchdowns in the last game of his rookie season before tearing his Achilles. He played in 10 fixtures, amassing a total of 327 yards at 4.7 yards per carry along with the two scores that season.

He made just one appearance the following year and would go on to register 100 yards for the Tennessee Titans in 2020. His role within the team grew after Derrick Henry got injured late in 2021.

Foreman logged a career-high 914 yards in what was an injury-free 2022 with the Carolina Panthers, making 203 carries. He ended up signing a $3 million deal with the Bears.

The former Texas star missed four consecutive games early in the campaign but saw increased minutes during the fall and finished with 502 scrimmage yards and five scores on 3.9 yards per carry.

Cleveland Browns Are Mounting Up For A Deep Playoff Run

The 27-year-old will give the Cleveland Browns another solid option once he remains healthy. The team lost Nick Chubb to a devastating injury last season and his status is still unclear on the back of two surgeries.

The Cleveland Browns also lost starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to injury but managed to make the playoffs despite their many absences.

They ranked 12th in rushing yards, making the league’s fourth-most attempts.

The Cleveland Browns signed Nyheim Hines following his release by the New York Giants and now boast multiple backfield options should Chubb be unable to go.
