“He is not a leader!” Jason Whitlock launches a verbal attack on Cam Newton over him getting into a fight at youth camp
Jason Whitlock and Cam Newton
Jason Whitlock refused to call Cam Newton a leader in light of his recent brawl with a large group of men at his youth football camp in Atlanta, whose footage went viral on the internet, causing a major stir.
The former Carolina Panthers’ quarterback appeared to be defending himself in the fight, which made fans instantly jump into his defense on social media.
In the recent episode of Blaze TV’s Fearless, the sports commentator addressed the NFL star quarterback’s viral video. Whitlock unleashed a viral attack on Newton regarding his new endeavor as the 7-on-7 football coach, arguing the quarterback doesn’t have what it takes to be a coach.
Cam Newton is not a leader. Never has been. Talent, the greatest resource in sports, powers performance and it undermines virtually everything else, most especially leadership. Talent cuts corners, it ignores details, it limits humility, it seeks attention and credit. Talent blinds. It's like a woman with perfect skin, large breasts, and a curvy waist. Talent intoxicates the beholder and its worshipers. He said on Tuesday
Though Whitlock acknowledged the exemplary talent of Newton as a football player, referring to it as “Hall of Fame talent.” However, he also believes the quarterback would never make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Because he chose to play the one position that requires a modicum of leadership ability. Coaches must lead. Cam Newton cannot do that.Continuing further, he argued.
Whitlock further stated having the mere “affinity” for helping children and “passion” for the games isn’t enough to be a coach.
The truth behind Cam Newton’s fight with two coaches at 7-on-7 youth football camp
Cam Newton
In the video captured via a cell phone, the former Panthers’ quarterback can be seen engaging in a physical conflict with a group of men, who appeared to have instigated the whole brawl. However, it was later found that two opposing coaches at Newton’s 7-on-7 youth football camp had taken the QB’s words exceptionally seriously.
It was revealed afterward that the whole incident was evoked by Newton in the first place, as he trash-talked to the coaches earlier that day, and one of them even claimed Newton disrespected him.
