“I don’t really have … a social life”

Angelina Jolie’s stealth wealth style and admirable work with the U.N. can make the multi-hyphenate seem untouchable. However, Jolie just made the most relatable comment about being a mother of six.

In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Jolie admitted she doesn’t “really have … a social life” at the moment. In fact, she considers her kids, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne, to be her besties.

“They are the closest people to me and my life, and they’re my close friends,” she told the publication. “We’re seven very different people, which is our strength.”

She added that her other pals are mostly refugees. “Maybe four out of six of the women that I am close to are from war and conflict,” she explained. “There’s a reason people who have been through hardship are also much more honest and much more connected, and I am more relaxed with them. Why do I like spending time with people who’ve survived and are refugees? They’ve confronted so much in life that it brings forward not just strength, but humanity.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Jolie touched on her 2016 split from Brad Pitt, and how the stress of that situation while filming Maleficent: Mistress of Evil caused her health to decline. “My body reacts very strongly to stress,” she said. “My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my divorce.”

These days, Jolie has fully embraced who she is and the obstacles that she has faced along the way. “I’ve been a mom, and I’ve fully absorbed that into who I am,” she said. “It’s like I see my scars and my things, and I feel like I’ve lived. And I’m having these big experiences, and I have this map of this complex body that’s changed over time.”

She added, “You and I both know that a woman with a full life is very sexy.”
