Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce was a shock for everyone. After a very public marriage and bringing four children into the world, they officially called it quits in November 2022.

The celebrity couple were wed for six years. We even saw the moment Kanye West and Kim Kardashian met on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but that all came to a bitter end two years ago.

Kim was Kanye’s ‘clean-up crew’ before divorce

Kim admitted on The Kardashians that she was really “overwhelmed” by Kanye’s behavior and having to put on a brave face for her family, which led to her blocking TV channels.

“I still feel the need to not talk about it and protect it from my kids and I will always feel that way, but God, if people knew. I would never do that to my kids. It’s just really crazy,” Kim said in a confessional.

She explained how she was exhausted from having to “clean up” the rapper’s outbursts on social media and in reality.

“I used to spend hours and hours and hours of my days as the clean-up crew,” she said.

She didn’t recognize her ex-husband

Kim got to a point where she didn’t recognize Kanye West.

She said: “It’s the hardest feeling to watch someone you really loved and have a family with, just be so different from who you knew.”

On season 3 episode 7 of The Kardashians, Kim said: “It sucks when someone doesn’t see how different they are,” she said in a confessional.

“It’s really confusing for me.”

Kim felt like a ‘failure’ before divorce from Kanye

Kanye is now married to Bianca Censori, who is often seen travelling and supporting the rapper. In June 2021, Kim said of their split: “He should have a wife that supports his every move and travels with him.”

She added: “I can’t. I feel like a f–king failure. It’s my third f–king marriage. Yeah, I feel like a f–king loser. But I can’t even think about that. I want to be happy.”

“After turning 40 this year, I realized like, ‘No, I don’t want a husband that lives in a completely different state,’” she noted. “I want someone that we have the same shows in common.”

“I want someone who wants to work out with me, have all the big things. I have the extravagant everything you can possibly imagine and no one will ever do it like that,” Kim continued.

‘Difference of opinion’ was the cause

During the June 2021 Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion special, Kim said there was not “one specific thing that happened on either part” to cause the breakup.

Instead, “a general difference of opinions on a few things” led to the decision.

Pete and Kanye’s drama

In alleged screen shots of text messages with Kim, the reality star appeared to ask her ex to stop slamming her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson publicly as the situation could become “dangerous.”

“I will always do everything to protect you and our family forever. And I listened to you and told everyone to make sure nothing physical happens to Skete,” he said in the messages shared in mid-February 2022.

Kanye apologized a day later for sharing the texts as well as writing his messages in all capital letters. “I know sharing screen shots was jarring and came off as harassing Kim. I take accountability.”

Kanye has ‘always dressed her’ even after divorce

Even during their divorce, Kim admits Kanye had always dressed her. She said, “Kanye has always dressed me, he’s always styled me. In the early 2000s, he would just send me random emails with all these looks.”

She revealed how Kanye had called to tell Kim her “career is over” when he first saw one of her outfits he had not styled. He even compared her to Marge Simpson!
