Gwyneth Paltrow takes offense at the suggestion that Kourtney Kardashian‘s Poosh lifestyle brand is merely a copycat of her own Goop business.

The Oscar winner, 51, said she became emotional over the negative comparisons between the two companies when the reality star, 44, debuted her line in 2019, nearly 11 years after Goop.

‘I was so upset when Poosh was launched and people were like, “This is a rip-off of Goop,”‘ the star told People on Wednesday.

‘I was like, “This is so awful, and trying to pit us against one another, which is so crazy,”‘ she added.

Gwyneth went on to say that the world thrives when women support each other rather than vie in competition, stating it is ‘better and stronger’ when ‘women are in cahoots with one another’.

‘I feel like the patriarchy does this thing to us where they make us feel scarcity and that there’s not enough for all of us to do our thing,’ she explained. ‘And it’s so detrimental.’

She also said that the criticism aimed at Kourtney made her ‘so excited to do the candle’ collaboration in 2022. The Goop x Poosh candle was called ‘This Smells Like My Pooshy.’

‘I thought it was hilarious,’ Gwyneth told the outlet.

The candle-making effort was featured on Kourt’s Hulu show The Kardashians, where the two celebs met and strategized.

In one episode, Kourtney was seen heading to Goop’s Santa Monica, California headquarters as the pair meet and embrace in the office.

Kourtney says, ‘This is so nice’ and Gwyneth says, ‘Oh my God I’m so happy you’re here. I’m really happy to have you.’

In a confessional, she added: ‘I really want to streamline the brand with my lifestyle so a Poosh and Goop candle collab makes so much sense because I love candles, I light candles every day in my home.’

Gwyneth has previously shut down rumors of a rivalry between her and Kourtney.

Gwyneth Paltrow teases her holiday shopping AMA to end 2023

In a May 2022 Instagram Q&A, she clarified that she believes the ‘wellness business’ has place for every woman, after a fan asked her if she was upset that Kourtney’s brand Poosh ‘copied’ her.

‘This idea that women need to be in competition is legacy patriarchy bulls***,’ she wrote, adding ‘@kourtneykardash is a really good person and also #KRAVISFOREVER.’

‘Kravis’ is the nickname for Kourtney and her husband Travis Barker, whom she married in a lavish ceremony in Italy around the time of the Q&A.

‘There is room for EVERY woman to fulfill her dreams,’ the Ironman actress continued.

The Oscar winner admitted that she can understand why some people may perceive the situation through a competitive lens.

‘I used to fall prey to this kind of thinking years ago, so I understand where it comes from,’ she admitted.

‘Now I get so happy when I see new wellness businesses there is a place for all of us,’ she said.
