Kim Kardashian turned heads at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars Party, donning a custom Balenciaga gown, but she later garnered attention for appearing noticeably different in new photos, sparking discussions about image editing and societal standards.

Kim graced the red carpet on Sunday (March 10) after celebrating the 96th Academy Awards.

Taking to her Instagram page, the 43-year-old reality TV star shared a series of photos showcasing her Balenciaga white dress, which she paired with black heels and black sunglasses.

The socialite also uploaded some Instagram stories, giving everybody a glimpse from inside the iconic Vanity Fair event, which saw a plethora of A-listers, including Lindsay Lohan, Sharon Stone, Martin Scorsese, Jennifer Coolidge, Lenny Kravitz, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Lange, Chloë Sevigny, Paris Hilton, and Trevor Noah.

Nevertheless, the public was later given a much closer look inside the prestigious post-Oscars party, thanks to the New York Times, which shared a series of exclusive pictures from the event captured by photographer V. Nina Westervelt.

The Times posted a carousel of photos of celebrities, such as Billie Eilish, Sydney Sweeney, Christopher Nolan, and Kim.

Despite Westervelt capturing striking portraits of Kim, people on social media promptly noticed a notable disparity compared to the images she had shared from the same night.

“Unedited photo of Kim, she’s gonna hate this,” an Instagram user commented.

Another person wrote: “Someone forgot to touch up the Kardashian photo.”

Someone else penned: “It’s nice to see them in real lighting with their human features.”

A separate individual chimed in: “Maybe it’s a shock to see them in motion and without their own edits…like real people.”

Kim, along with her famous sisters, has been infamous for using filters to edit her social media posts. In a 2022 episode of The Kardashians, the Skims founder admitted to approving her paparazzi photos as well as editing them, as per Buzzfeed.
