Kourtney Kardashian revealed that her attempts to conceive and have her first child with fiance Travis Barker have been difficult both mentally and physically.

‘It’s a beautiful thing that we’d love to have happen, but the journey is a bit hard for any woman who went on it,’ she told Entertainment Tonight of her fertility struggles.

Last month, a leaked trailer of the family’s new reality series, The Kardashians, showed the 42-year-old reality star in the process of possibly conceiving with Barker as the couple visited a specialist.

‘And emotional,’ Khloe added, who also went through a similarly challenging experience with invitro fertilization which was documented on season 20 of KUWTK.

Kourtney also said last month that IVF medication ‘put her into menopause’, which caused her to gain weight due to fluctuating estrogen levels.

Menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, as a woman’s estrogen levels decline. Research on whether in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment can trigger menopause is sparse and not yet cemented.

‘Travis and I want to have a baby,’ she said in voiceover while footage of the Blink-182 drummer proposing on the beach is shown.

Kourtney also shared her upset over the ‘rude’ comments she has recently received about her weight gain, which she says was also triggered by her IVF drugs.

‘I’m, like, it’s so rude to comment on people when you have no idea what they’re going through,’ she said.

IVF is usually used by women or couples who are struggling to conceive naturally, and it involves the retrieval of eggs from the ovaries, which are then fertilized by sperm in a lab, before being transferred into the uterus.

Many women who are preparing to undergo IVF will be given one or more forms of fertility drug by their doctor, which are used to trigger the release of hormones that then stimulate egg production.

Kris looked flustered, replied, ‘Based off of what? A drug?’ with Kourtney replying, ‘Yes,’ though she didn’t specify what medications she had been taking as part of her fertility treatments.

Kourtney didn’t clarify in the clip if she is still menopausal, or whether she was just experiencing menopause-like symptoms, which include irregular periods, hot flashes, chills, night sweats – and weight gain.

Fertility drugs have been known to cause symptoms that are very similar to those experienced during menopause, including hot flashes, weight gain, changes in mood, and bloating.

At one point during Khloe’s failed relationship with Tristan Thompson, they had planned to have another child and went through an embryo retrieval process in hopes of having another sibling for True.

At the time, She explained the risks of pregnancy and said that she had also been warned by her doctor that there was an 80% chance she might miscarry if she did try to carry embryos to term, leading to debate of undergoing surrogacy.

Kendall Jenner ‘always had a feeling’ her half-sister was meant to be with Travis, as Kourtney admitted to PEOPLE that it was Kendall who pushed ‘for years’ to have the eldest Kardashian sister take the next step in her friendship with Barker.

‘Kendall, for years, would always say… “he’s so fire, he’s so fire!” Anytime we’d see him or he’d be with us,’ the Poosh blogger recalled.

Kourtney revealed she initially ‘had a fear’ of ruining their friendship, but ultimately things have gone in strides and worked out perfectly as the pair are now engaged and even had a Las Vegas wedding after the Grammys last weekend.

‘I definitely know Kim and I have spoken about [their intense connection]. I feel like Kendall and I have,’ sister Khloe said. ‘It was perfect timing. It was timing. We were all like, “Come on, they’ve just got to hook up.” And they did and they haven’t [stopped.]

The pair already had rings on, so Dean followed up the vows with the ring ceremony, and sang the King’s classic Can’t Help Falling in Love alongside A Mess Of Blues, while the happy couple shared a kiss.

Kourtney and Travis are thought to have paid around $600 extra for Dean to marry them, with the ceremony itself only costing $199 – as the were insistent on an Elvis impersonator for the special moment.

The couple began dating more than a year ago and have been friends for a while as neighbors living next to each other in Calabasas, Calif. He dropped to one knee and proposed in October on the beach during sunset with her family watching on from the distance.
