Travis Barker knows that somebody is looking out for him.

On his Instagram Story on Thursday, the musician, 48, shared a photo of his plane ticket from Sydney, Australia to Perth, which included a poignant message he’d seemingly written to himself.

“I know I got angels watching over me,” the ticket read, along with an outline of a cross.

The phrase is especially meaningful to Barker, as he survived a 2008 plane crash that killed four people, including his assistant and security guard, and left him with third-degree burns on more than half his body.

In September, he wrote on X that while he will fly now, it’s still difficult.

“I still hate flying,” he wrote. “I love touring and playing music but I unfortunately associate traveling and flying with death. I am strong and nothing can keep me from living life though 💪”

Barker and wife Kourtney Kardashian, 44, recently traveled Down Under with Barker’s band Blink-182. When Blink last toured Australia in 2013, Barker did not participate, as he was still dealing with the emotional aftermath of his 2008 crash.

“I still haven’t gotten over the horrific events that took place the last time I flew when my plane crashed and 4 people were killed, two being my best friends,” he wrote in a Facebook post at the time. “I gave the band my blessing to take another drummer if they still wanted to do the tour without me. I hope to come to Australia again some day perhaps by ship if need be.”
Monica Schipper/Getty
Travis Barker performing at Coachella in April 2023

In the years since, Barker has overcome his fear, thanks in part to the support of Kardashian, whom he married in 2022 and welcomed son Rocky with in November. In 2021, he revealed that he’d recently flown for the first time in 13 years.

“I made a deal with her that she had just said to me, ‘I would love to do so much traveling with you. I want to go to Italy with you. I want to go to Cabo with you. I want to go to Paris with you. I want to go to Bora Bora with you,'” he told NYLON in 2021. “And I said, ‘Well, when the day comes you want to fly, I’m telling you I’ll do it with you. I would do anything with you. And just give me 24 hours notice.’ And that’s what she did.
