He said: “We (at that time) were having a press conference and the theme of the movie was revenge.

When the reporter asked me how I got into character, I remembered a story that happened 40 years ago when my close friend was brutally raped. I was abroad at that time.

When I returned, she told me about it and she actually faced the tragedy with great courage. I have never felt such a terrible and primal anger welling up inside me.

She said it was a black guy. After that, there were a few nights when I went to areas frequented by people of color and waited for a good opportunity to release all the accumulated violent anger.

I did this 4 or 5 times before stopping. That shocked me. It hurts me. I did seek help after that. I went to a priest… I’m not a racist. That happened 40 years ago.”

According to the Daily Mail, Liam Neeson said if the attacker were white, he would have done the same.
