The Caitlin Clark effect has brought more attention to women’s college basketball.

Caitlin Clark's triple double and 3-point flurry lead No. 3 Iowa to 96-71 rout over Purdue

Caitlin Clark has been a revelation this season in the world of college basketball breaking and creating numerous records all season. From being the highest scorer in the history of college basketball to dislodging Steph Curry’s three-point college record, she has seen her stock rise.

The Caitlin Clark effect has brought even more attention to women’s college basketball with increased viewers and even record ticket prices. She just recently declared for the 2024 WNBA draft and the question has been asked of her effect outside of college basketball.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce speaking on Ticket and Truth (KG Certified) via “All the Smoke” on YouTube heaped praises on her and the impact she’s had on women’s basketball. They went as far as bringing up what she could do if she were to compete in the NBA. Garnett said:

This is the first time we've got women's basketball ahead of men's basketball. She gonna give you more than 10 points. She can shoot and she got the work.

Kevin Garnett said

KG and Pierce aren’t the first to recognize the greatness that is Caitlin Clark and won’t be the last either. It’s good to see attention being brought to the realm of women’s basketball, due to the “Caitlin Clark” effect.

Kevin Garnett gives reason why he doesn’t talk about his legacy

Kevin Garnett had an excellent career in the NBA, earning himself the nickname “Big Ticket” for his commanding presence on the court. Unlike other legends who are known to talk about their careers, KG doesn’t share that same sentiment.

He shared that there were instances when he was promoted to talk about his tenure in the NBA but rather refused as he prefers living in the present and talking about the happenings of games in this era. He said:

I guess when the games stopped, everything stopped for me. And I kind of changed gears and started to see the next—if the lord spares me to live—the next 20 years and the next 30 years, I just quickly hit that switch.

Kevin Garnett added

After 20 glorious seasons in the NBA, the man regarded as one of the greatest power forwards in the history of the NBA deserves to be humble and refrain from blowing his trumpet.
