Otto Porter Jr. announces retirement after 11 NBA seasons
Porter averaged 10.3 points in 527 games with Washington, Chicago, Orlando, Golden State and Toronto.
Otto Porter Jr., the No. 3 pick in the 2013 Draft and a member of Golden State’s 2021-22 championship team, has announced his retirement after 11 NBA seasons.
Porter, 30, finishes his career with averages of 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 527 games with Washington, Chicago, Orlando, Golden State and finally Toronto. His 39.7 career 3-point percentage ranks 61st in NBA history.
The third overall pick out of Georgetown in 2013, Porter averaged just 2.1 points as a rookie but steadily improved to 14.7 ppg by his fifth season.
Porter was frequently hampered by injuries, particularly during stints with the Bulls and the Magic, before playing in 63 games and averaging 8.2 ppg primarily in reserve for Golden State’s most recent title team.
He played sporadically for the Raptors over the past two seasons before his trade to Utah on Feb. 8. He was waived on Monday without an appearance with the Jazz, followed shortly by his announcement.
