Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson recently praised his teammate Jonathan Kuminga and also commented on his future. One-half of the Splash brothers have recently gotten better at their performances after being in a slump earlier this season.

Kuminga on the other hand has proven himself to be worthy of a starting role in the Warriors lineup. His performances have been constantly getting better with every week as the young star helped lift major burden from the shoulders of Steph Curry.

Klay Thompson praises young Warrior Jonathan Kuminga

Klay Thompson recently praised the young Dubs star Jonathan Kuminga for his recent performances. He shared his thoughts on the youngster in a post-game interview after the match against the Lakers.

When asked about Kuminga’s stellar display, Thompson said, “Jonathan (Kuminga) has been incredible for us. I mean the athlete he is, he might be the best athlete in the NBA. Just his ability to rise up and his combination with speed, so, he is the future of the franchise and we need him to go where we want to go this season.”

Klay Thompson is not wrong in his praise for the young Warriors star. Jonathan Kuminga has been a key player for the Warriors since mid-season. He was successful in proving his worth in his debut match against the Bulls. Since then, Kuminga has become a valuable asset for the Warriors and has lifted a heavy burden from the shoulders of Stephen Curry, who was carrying the franchise alone this season.

Kuminga’s future with the Golden State Warriors

The 2023-24 season might have not gone the way the Warriors had originally expected. However, Jonathan Kuminga has shined brightly even amid the Warriors’ struggles. The 21-year-old has shown flares of great potential and is having one of the best breakout-seasons this year.

From a statistical standpoint, he is averaging a career-high 16.1 points this season and has also started in a career-high 38 games so far. Kuminga is sure to attract some big teams who would want him on their rosters next season, making his future at the Warriors questionable.

However, Kuminga recently affirmed his desire to stay with the Dubs for life if possible while speaking on NBC Sports Bay Area’s “Dub’s Talk”. “I would love to just be one of the Warriors for life – and just never change”, said Kuminga.

If the 21-year-old succeeded in staying at his current team, he would be following in the footsteps of franchise legends like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. However, whether Kuminga stays with the Dubs or not will only be known as time passes.
