Stephen Curry is one of the main pillars on the Golden State warriors team.

Stephen Curry tiếp tục làm bạn với băng ghế dự bị

The Golden State Warriors hosted the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, though this time, without Steph Curry. He sat this one out as he continues to recover from his ankle injury.

Though the Dubs played without their leading scorer, they only faced the 15th-seeded team. In the previous few games, the Warriors regained momentum, coming up victorious over top teams of the league.

What was surprising was the loss against the Spurs. San Antonio took the game, 126-113. Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga led the team, putting up 27 and 26 respectively. Meanwhile, the Spurs, who were also without their star rookie, Victor Wembanyama, displayed the utmost effort, outlasting the Dubs. Following the devastating loss, Kuminga addressed the media, as he talked about Steph’s absence.

Jonathan Kuminga said,

I feel like we have a great team to compete against anybody. And of course we’re gonna feel Steph’s absence. But there can’t be a reason because Steph’s not playing so we’re losing. Obviously, he comes in to change the game, but missing him don’t mean we gotta go out there and lose.

The Warriors are in a rough spot, as they look to settle for the Play-In tournament. Each win holds significant importance moving forward. Not only that, Steph’s health is also bound to play an important role.

The Dubs are stumbling without Steph Curry

Looking at the stats, the Warriors are 0-4 without Steph this season. The four-time champ has been putting up 26.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per contest while shooting over 40% from deep. To put Curry’s impact on the Warriors into a deeper perspective, the team’s record when he has scored 30 or more points is 16-8.

Despite the 35-year-old’s absence, the Warriors have managed to maintain their offensive force, putting up 110+ points. Ever since Jordan Poole‘s departure, the Dubs have been struggling on the offensive end without Curry. Having Kuminga and upcoming players like Brandin Podziemski as backup scorers is a wise decision for the Dubs when seen for the long run.

With the given roster and their best game on the floor, the Warriors can make it as far as the second round of the postseason, though might not be able to withstand teams like the Wolves, the Clippers, and the Nuggets.

Nevertheless, it will be a tougher competition ahead for the Warriors, with Steph not expected to get back on the hardwood for the next few games.
