Henry Cavill may be a staggering big screen presence, but he doesn’t hold a tremendous box-office like Ben Affleck because of movies like ‘Argylle’!

The former allies from the late DC Extended Universe, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are unarguably two of the biggest hotshots in Hollywood.

Despite the more-than-a-decade-long age gap, one is renowned for the excellence he showed as the masterbrain Batman and the other is famous for exceptionally leading the Justice League as Superman.

Yet while Cavill may have had a slightly more elevated position in the DC Extended Universe, he doesn’t hold the same against Affleck in real life. Because in real life, the Batman portrayer actually holds an unbelievable box office record that the former Superman just may never be able to break if he continues to make box-office disasters like Argylle.

The Box Office Record Ben Affleck Holds but Henry Cavill Doesn’t

Although both Cavill and Ben Affleck have led wildly successful careers so far (with quite a few debacles as well) and have even shared the screen, with the 40-year-old actor having a greater role than his 51-year-old co-star; the former is still yet to reach the position of the latter.

This comes after taking notice of the box office record Affleck notably holds. According to stats from The Numbers, the Bruce Wayne portrayer actually has a record of a stunning $4 billion+ aggregate earnings from the box office of all the 35 movies where he has starred in the leading roles.

In comparison, Cavill has had his fair share of leading roles as well, no doubt. However, the worldwide aggregate box office earnings from the 8 movies in which he holds the lead role is only a little over $1.6 billion, making it a lot less than his Justice League co-star, as per The Numbers.

Although both actors have had some of the best leading roles throughout their careers like Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes and Affleck’s uncountable critically commended leading roles including that of Tony Mendez in Argo.

While a lot of factors have to be considered while making this comparison, including the respective number of leading roles of the two stars, there is a chance Henry Cavill may never be able to surpass Affleck if he continues trekking on the same road.

Henry Cavill May Never Break Ben Affleck’s Record if he Continues This Way

Even though Cavill’s box office record seems pretty impressive as well when considering the number of leading roles he and Affleck have had throughout their respective careers, it isn’t all too impressive when considering his recent roles. Like that of the titular spy hero in Argylle.

Despite being a spy genre project that had so much hype surrounding it, the film was a massive disappointment. Besides the brutally critical reviews, its worldwide box office revenue stands at only $92 million on a $200 million budget throughout its month-long run (as per Box Office Mojo).

But irrespective of whatever reasons the film may have failed, it is ostensibly clear that staying in that lane that holds too much risk of success and making movies like his most recent spy action one won’t get the heartthrob Cavill any closer to breaking Affleck’s stunning record.

Thus, what Henry Cavill needs to do is switch lanes from box-office bombs like his most recent one, and jump back into serious business if he wishes to break Affleck’s box-office record as a leading actor in his projects — just like he did in Man of Steel and The Witcher saga.
