Beyoncé has just become the first black female singer to top the Billboard music chart in the Hot Country Songs category (country music chart). Texas Hold ‘Em is the song that helped Beyoncé achieve this success.

Beyoncé has become the first black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, after her song Texas Hold ‘Em debuted at No. 1.

This song was released simultaneously with the single called 16 Carriages during the surprise album announcement on February 11, at the same time as the Super Bowl.

Texas Hold ’Em is currently in 2nd place with more than 19 million downloads, while 16 Carriages is in 38th place with 10.3 million downloads on BillBoard’s Hot 100 list. Both singles are expected to appear on Beyoncé’s film Renaissance, scheduled for release on March 29.

At the same time, this achievement also makes Beyonce the second female solo artist, second only to Taylor Swift, to achieve the feat in 2021 with two re-recordings  Love Story and All Too Well.

Beyoncé is also the first woman to top both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hip Songs charts since the lists began in 1958. Justin Bieber, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ray Charles and Morgan Wallen are other artists who have topped both charts.

The Hot Country Songs chart is a “multi-metric” chart that combines sales, streams and radio airplay in the US, much like Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

In the past, it was often difficult for female artists or artists of color to have a place on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Therefore, this achievement of Beyoncé is considered a “turning point” for black artists to achieve such outstanding achievements.
