Recently, the American Academy of Music officially confirmed that Taylor Swift’s name was removed from the credits of all nominations related to Olivia Rodrigo’s album Sour.

Specifically, Olivia’s recognition of Taylor Swift and two other collaborators on Taylor’s team, Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent originates from the fact that the song deja vu uses a verse from Taylor Swift’s song Cruel Summer (co-written by Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, St. Vincent for the album Lover released in 2019). Another song on the album Sour is 1 step forward, 3 steps back which also uses a piece of music from the song New Year’s Day by Taylor Swift (composed by Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff on the album Reputation released in 2017).

However, Grammy made the decision not to credit the composers of the original melodies, but only to credit the individuals who directly worked on Olivia Rodrigo’s album Sour. This move by Grammy made many audiences unhappy.

Previously, Grammy was also criticized for treating Taylor Swift unfairly. The Academy of Music has increased the number of nominations for the Big Four categories this year from 8 to 10 nominations and ironically, Taylor Swift’s evermore as well as Kanye West’s “frenemy” Donda are the two. the album was added to the nomination list just 24 hours in advance, making her considered a “Save Ticket”. On the other hand, with the artistic quality of “evermore”, many netizens believe that Taylor Swift deserves more nominations.
