It was a sad moment of realisation when we thought David Beckham looked worryingly like Ricky Gervais last summer.
And while we tried to convince ourselves that his moment of roughness was a one off – a bad hair day mixed with tired eyes and a dodgy David Brent style goatee – we were wrong.
Without his famous hair styled by a professional and a face free of foundation and powder it was upsetting to see David look more like a craggy old man playing football than his perma-handsome self.
Sadly it makes the position we placed Golden Balls in 3am’s Top 100 Sexiest Men award completely justified.
The unflattering snaps were taken in March this year as David played football for Paris Saint-Germain – who managed to lose against a team who we’re told by the boys at MirrorFootball are proper rubbish.
It’s a long way from his latest H&M underwear commercial when he battles the elements by running in a pair of pants in the popular video.
He’s even defended himself after accusations a body double stepped in for the bits where bum’s on show.
