Eiichiro Oda might bring back Kaido with a twist.

SUMMARY

One Piece chapter 1109 cover featured an image of Onigashima under water and it is next to the part of Wano that went under the water.
One section of the Land of Wano that went under water had the Ancient Weapon Pluto and after seeing the latest cover, fans have come up with new theories.
With Onigashima being near submerged Wano, fans believe it might be a foreshadowing by Eiichiro rekated to the whereabouts of Kaido.

One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda is known for the skillful writing that has kept the audience engaged for the last 25 years. He is regarded as a genius and has often foreshadowed several things through small details. One of his greatest aspects is that he likes to keep mysteries to build up the hype and connect several of them through one revelation.

The latest One Piece chapter was released on March 4, 2024. Chapter 1109 continued with the climax of the battle on Egghead Island, with Saint Jaygarcia Saturn summoning the rest of the Five Elders. But more than that, the fans were excited with the cover of the chapter. They believe it might be a foreshadowing related to Kaido since the cover featured a submerged Onigashima.

Kaido Whereabouts Might Be Known Soon in One Piece

After Gear 5 Monkey D. Luffy defeated Kaido on the rooftop battle of Onigashima, the latter was seen falling inside the lava pit. Since then, his whereabouts have been unknown, with most suggesting that the Captain of the Beast Pirates might be dead. But the latest cover of One Piece chapter 1109 made the fans take back their initial verdict on Kaido. They believe he might be alive and aiming for one of the Ancient Weapons, Pluton.

After the Ninja-Pirate-Samurai-Mink Alliance successfully defeated the Beast Pirates, the Straw Hats were given a lavish party for their aid. It was during that time the fans saw Kozuki Sukiyaki, Kozuki Oden’s father, and Nico Robin had a conversation after the former took her to the Road Poneglyph. He mentioned the main city of Wano was submerged since it was harboring the Ancient Weapon Pluton.

So, there is still a chance that the submerged portion might have Pluton in a disguised state. The cover of One Piece 1109 featured Onigashima submerged right next to Wano’s submerged section. Since Onigashima was Kaido’s base of operations, it might be foreshadowing that Kaido’s next target is the Ancient Weapon Pluton. It is yet to be confirmed whether he is alive or dead. Knowing Kaido has survived almost every possible execution, it is unlikely that he will die.

Lava might not be strong enough to consume him. Moreover, Kaido has stayed in Wano for almost two decades, and knows almost everything about the island. Until now, he never needed Pluton since no one dared to free Wano. Now that it has happened, he might try to find the weapon and attempt to become the King of the Pirates.

One Piece Chapter 1109 Cover Leaves A Series Of Mysteries

Onigashima getting submerged in the same place as the old Wano is a bit too suspicious for the One Piece fans. Eiichiro Oda does not do anything randomly. He had previously mentioned in an interview that he does not like to kill his characters until and unless it is beneficial to the plot. So, Kaido being alive is very much possible.

Apart from him, Blackbeard might also be after Pluton. Caribou overheard the Pluton conversation when Nico Robin told it to her crew mates. Later, it was revealed that he wanted to join the Blackbeard Pirates, which could mean he would tell the secret to Marshall D. Teach to join his crew. With its end approaching, One Piece has become a race between the top pirates to rule the world by any means.

Onigashima and Wano being together underwater means that Kaido is aware of the Ancient Weapon. Eiichiro Oda’s subtle hints have greater meanings behind them. But for the moment, it is still a fan theory. Until Oda sensei lets the fans in on his plans, nothing is confirmed.
