Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF are back in action with a Wednesday night matchup against Nashville SC in the Concacaf Champions League at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The game is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.

Inter Miami and Nashville SC enter the second leg of their Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 matchup tied on aggregate after a 2-2 draw in the first round. Jacob Shaffelburg scored in the fourth and 46th minutes to stake Nashville to a 2-0 lead, but Messi cut into it with a score in the 52nd minute and Luis Suarez scored the equalizer deep into extra time to help Miami salvage a draw.

And while it took late heroics, the stats point to a dominant Miami showing and a good opportunity missed for a win and a little cushion going into tonight’s second leg. Miami held possession for 70.2 percent of the game and held edges in shots (12 to 6) and corner kicks (6 to 2).

Inter Miami CF currently sits atop the Major League Soccer standings, granted with one more match than the rest of the league has played thus far. Messi and company have a 2-1-1 record with seven points, which is tied with CF Montreal, the Columbus Crew, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC for best in the MLS. Inter Miami holds the No. 1 spot on goal differential at plus-6.

Meanwhile, Nashville SC is running 10th in the MLS with an 0-3-0 record and three straight draws. The most recent MLS result was a 2-2 tie with the LA Galaxy where Nashville opened up a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute, but surrendered goals to Ricard Puig in the 67th minute and to Dejan Joveljic in the 82nd to exit with a disappointing result. That match marked two such games in a row where Nashville coughed up late leads, including the previous match with Inter Miami.
