American singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s mother, Tina Knowles, has had enough. She took to social media to defend her daughter against some social media users who accused the brown-skinned girl of bleaching her skin.

This happened after photos of Beyoncé were released during the Renaissance launch. In the photo, the singer wears her hair in platinum curtains and combines a metallic silver Versace dress with elbow-length silver gloves.

Not everyone is impressed with her appearance, some even accuse the singer of bleaching her skin and “wanting to be white”.

In her Instagram post, Knowles said she had to say something after a reporter from US tabloid TMZ “questioned” whether her daughter was black.

“She made a movie called The Renaissance where the whole theme was silver with silver hair, a silver carpet and suggested silver clothing and you idiots decided that she was trying to pass as a white woman and bleaching her skin? How sad it is that some of her own continue this foolish story with hatred and jealousy.

“Black women have been wearing platinum hair since Etta James. I just went and looked at all the beautiful, talented black celebrities who went platinum and it happened to just about every one of them at one time or another. Are they all trying to be white? I’m sick and tired of people attacking her.”

She ended her post with: “I’m sick of losers. This girl is minding her own business. She helps people whenever she can. She always uplifts and elevates black women and the underdog.”

Notable celebrities defended the singer on Knowles’ post.

“That’s the way you go, Mother Bear. Let them have it, Tina. Your daughters and grandchildren are cozy in their skin, something these lowlifes will never have,” commented American actress and comedian Jackée Harry.

“Educate them,” says LaTavia Roberson, a former member of Beyoncé’s Destiny’s Child band. They always try to bring down the black woman, especially one they feel threatened by. The true definition of a protector.”
