Aaron Donald hung up his cleats, closely following Jason’s own retirement. He was truly one of a kind. He played all his 10 seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams. But that does not mean he has admirers in other teams.

In fact, when he announced his retirement, players across the board lamented his decision. Some were grateful that got a chance to play against him, and some regretted that they never got the chance.

But even amidst all this, there was still criticism. And that came due to his record against the Eagles. But Jason Kelce came to his defense as he revealed the real reason for his poor record against his team.

Jason Kelce steps in for Aaron Donald

In a heartfelt homage to a titan of the turf, Jason Kelce took a moment on the show. He spoke about Aaron Donald’s monumental decision to hang up his cleats. The day marked not just an end but a celebration of a legacy that has left an indelible mark on the game. “This is today Aaron Donald day forever,” Kelce declared.

However, amidst the admiration following his retirement announcement, people pointed out one thing- Donald’s sack record against the Eagles. He’s recorded zilch sacks against Philly. But how? Jason revealed it, “We double teamed him and triple teamed him. Entire gameplan is situated with him not ruining the game.” The defensive strategy of the Eagles was focused on stopping one man. Donald. They were bent on preventing him from sacking Jalen Hurts.

But as he walks on from his football career, he has a lot to be proud of.

Aaron’s lasting legacy

When Aaron Donald was chosen 13th overall by the St. Louis Rams back in 2014, little did the world know they were witnessing the dawn of an era. Donald didn’t just join the Rams. He redefined them, etching his name into the annals of the franchise with a staggering 111 career sacks.

Each year, without fail, he was hailed as a Pro Bowl legend, and eight glorious times, the title of first-team All-Pro was bestowed upon him. From the moment he clinched the 2014 Defensive Rookie of the Year, Donald was more than a player.  But perhaps more telling of his greatness is his shared record with Barry Sanders. Both players share the rare distinction of Pro Bowl selections in every season of their careers spanning a decade.

Even as the 2023 season added another Pro Bowl feather to his cap, Donald appears poised to embrace what lies beyond the gridiron. The chapters of his football saga may be drawing to a close, but the story of Aaron Donald is far from over.
