Revealing ‘Awful Feeling’ at Super Bowl, Paul Rudd Opens Up on ‘Dumb’ Superstition While Watching Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs

Ant-Man, Paul Rudd, was at the Super Bowl 2024 himself! He was there, all smiles, chilling with his son Jack. Jack was in his crisp white Chiefs jersey with Trent McDuffie’s No. 22. And Paul wearing Derrick Thomas’ iconic No. 58. Oh, and Paul was sporting a mustache too.

The highlight? Paul getting a big hug from Patrick Mahomes, the Super Bowl MVP, right after the Chiefs clinched the win against the 49ers. You could just see the joy on Paul’s face, living every fan’s dream moment. He was all caught up in the celebration, shouting, “We did it, man!” Turns out, he also had a big role to play in this victory.

Paul Rudd had a difficult time at the Super Bowl

Paul cracked open a little window into his game-day world. Picture this: he’s there with his son, both of them totally absorbed in the game. Paul revealed to Colbert a “dumb” superstition he had. “I’m so superstitious, it’s dumb,” he confessed. One time, mid-game, he took a sip from his water bottle, set it down, and… just then the Chiefs scored!

From that moment, that bottle was left untouched. “Can’t touch it, has to face a certain way,” he laughed. Ant-Man admitted to Colbert that it’s all a bit “stupid”. But as long as it was working, what’s there to complain? And he had a hard time going through the game. “It’s exciting. It’s awful watching it. I don’t think it’s an enjoyable experience at all,” he said. The game kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

But it turns out that he doesn’t have superstitions for football only.

Paul’s baseball superstition helps the Royals win

Paul Rudd might be known for his acting chops. But when it comes to baseball, his heart beats for the KC Royals. So there he was, at Citi Field, living every fan’s dream as he cheered the Royals on to clinch the World Series against the Mets. But the actual party kicked off in the clubhouse. After the game, Royals players drenched him in beer and champagne, with him laughing and shouting, “I’m way too dry!”

But what helped them win in the first place? It may be Paul’s lucky t-shirt. He was wearing three T-shirts during the game! One of them was his lucky charm. He’d worn that tee to every game since the wild-card game in 2014.

The Chiefs will be looking to create history in 2025. They want to become the first team in the league’s history with three straight wins! Can Paul Rudd and his “superstitious” antics help the squad achieve that?
