A lot has been happening with the PGA Tour lately. Apart from the events that are being held each week, the circuit entered into a deal with SSG almost a month ago. Interestingly, the agreement had, apparently, led to a lot of rumors regarding the whole merger between the two circuits to settle down. However, it arose again during the recent tournament when a meeting between the Tiger Woods-led Player Directors and Yasir Al-Rumayyan was confirmed to take place.

During an interview after the PLAYERS Championship, Rory McIlroy had gone ahead to state the importance of Woods’s presence during the meeting. Well, interestingly, it appears that would become the case, as well as the meeting which was initially said to take place in Florida has now undergone a change!

A Tiger Woods-Yasir Al-Rumayyan meetup for golf’s future?

A tweet was shared by Dan Rapaport on his X handle (formerly Twitter) mentioning how he heard that the legend of the sport along with the PIF Chairman “will play golf/have already played to discuss the future of pro golf in the Bahamas.” What’s more, he was also excited about the whole meet-up between the two entities as he added, “Love that the biggest meetings to discuss the future of golf take place…on the golf course.”

Meanwhile, news of the get-together had earlier been confirmed by one of the Player Directors, Patrick Cantlay, on Sunday. Well now, as per reports, it appears the location has been changed to Nassau, Bahamas, or more specifically, the Albany Resort where the 15-time major champ hosts the Hero World Challenge every year.

However, the community didn’t remain passive after hearing the news of the meet-up between the two. An enthusiast of the sport went ahead to take a dig at the uncertainty that was hidden behind the tweet as they pointed out, “‘will play golf/have already played’ those are 2 wildly different scenarios, big guy.”

If you think that was all that the fans in the golf world said about the upcoming meeting, then you’re sorely wrong. Many more did go ahead and comment under the tweet all the while sending the internet into a frenzy.

The Bahamas meeting sends the golf world into a fervor

From responses wishing the good of the sport, albeit in a funny manner, to those drawing a parallel between golf and other sports, there were many reactions that came under the post. Let us take a look at some of these comments.

A follower pointed out the amount of money that the Public Investment Fund would bring to the game of golf, albeit in a hilarious manner. However, he was also hopeful of the meeting bearing a proper result resulting in an agreement benefitting both sides.

The next comment that was dished out came from an ardent Woods fan it seems. Well, the 82-time PGA Tour champ’s supporter was extremely confident of his idol’s skills when it comes to the sport as he predicted how the golfer would win against Al-Rumayyan.

Fascinatingly, the Bahamas is the place where the 48-year-old parks his yacht. You might be able to guess what the next comment is. Well, an enthusiast of the sport, hilariously, urged for a yacht war instead of a golf match.

This time around, a fan drew a parallel with other sports through his comment under the tweet. They highlighted the impossibility of such a situation happening in other games, all the while taking the example of baseball, or more specifically, Commissioner Rob Manfred and MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark.

The first major of the year is slowly creeping up and its hype might have caught on to some of the fans. A follower, comically, mentioned how Al-Rumayyan just wanted to get into the Masters Tournament at Augusta through the PGA Tour Pro.

Regardless of the comments, one can only wait and see what this meeting entails for the future of golf. What do you think would happen? Share your thoughts below.
